Wisdom is a journey. Reiki is too. There’s always more to learn. It’s been my goal to keep this attitude: to never shut down or close the door on new ideas or new ways of doing something, even something that is working well. Maybe the universe has plans to bring me somewhere I can’t even imagine, and if I become complacent or closed off, I could miss it.

I’ve been trained in the Usui Shiki Ryoho tradition of Reiki through my wonderful Reiki Master teacher Noelle Abent at Energetic Therapies, but I’m always seeking new ways to help my clients. So when I came across the Holy Fire Reiki Master Class taught by Reiki Master William Rand in Glastonbury, UK, I was all in. The classes were held at the Abbey Retreat House just behind the Abbey Ruins (said to be the final resting place of King Arthur and Guinevere) in the heart of Glastonbury–the Isle of Avalon, as it is dubbed. The monastery was founded in the 8th century and was suppressed under King Henry VIII during the (1536-41) Dissolution of the Monasteries. During this time, Catholic monasteries were disbanded, and their wealth was sold to fund Henry’s military campaigns. The last abbot was hanged as a traitor in 1539 on the Glastonbury Tor, a place of pre-Christian worship during the Mesolithic period and later the spot of the medieval St. Michael’s church.

What does all this have to do with Reiki? Well, Reiki is energy, and this place was packing some serious energy. During the classes, we went into deep states of meditation and, speaking for myself, I let go of a lot of stagnant energy, old belief paradigms that were holding me back, and received some revelations on my authentic self and my future.
This is the power of seeking and being willing to let go of the old adage, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” It often isn’t a matter of something being broken but simply knowing there’s always more to discover, more truth to uncover. I came back to the States having made new friends and with more tools to help my Reiki clients with the Holy Fire energy, clearing the energy field, and a technique for removing “sticky” energy (thought bodies and negative energies).
Let me encourage you to be a seeker. Whether it’s your next adventure, your life’s calling, or the healing you need, be a seeker, ask the questions, and go. Release the stagnant energy and move into the clarity, the place where you come face to face with you! The you that you were always meant to be.
